Touring Florida's Vintage Attractions - Eight Great Destinations

Sunday, October 31, 2010 4:41 AM Posted by Andy Subandono 0 comments

By Ruth Seebeck

Florida has been a destination of choice for centuries. Ponce de Leon came, looking for the Fountain of Youth, in 1513. Since then, six cultures left their mark on the peninsula. Native Indians fought Spanish, French and English explorers. American settlers brought agriculture, industry and slavery. After the Civil War, rail barons like Henry Flagler promoted Florida's climate. By the 1900's Florida was THE winter destination for many wealthy Americans.

As Florida developed, so did tourist attractions. Today, those same places provide a look at Florida's yesteryear. Interestingly, every Florida destination is no more than eighty miles from the Atlantic or the Gulf of Mexico.

St. Augustine - Spain claimed the nation's "Oldest City" 42 years before England landed at Jamestown. It had a rocky history until Flagler picked St. A as his first tourist project. His famed hotels are now Lightner Museum and Flagler College. St. Augustine is an eclectic mix of historic, vintage and modern attractions to delight any traveler. Tour Castilla de San Marcos, the historic district and the famous striped lighthouse. Immerse yourself in the culture of St. Augustine. Book rooms at an historic inn, bed & breakfast or classic motel.

Sarasota - Ringling Bros. Circus picked Sarasota for its winter quarters. The Ringling complex includes a world-class art museum and Ca d'Zan (House of John) mansion. Its Circus museum features a popular miniature circus. Jungle Gardens' vintage zoological park opened in 1940. Other attractions include two classic car museums, Marie Selby Botanic Gardens, and Myakka River State Park. Sarasota is a "gem of the Gulf coast" with pristine white sand beaches along the mainland and nearby barrier islands.

Winter Haven - Winter Haven is an inland paradise, surrounded by more than 30 lakes. No wonder it is the water-skiing capital of the world. It is also the home of Cypress Gardens, Florida's first theme park (1936). CG is famous for spectacular water-skiing shows and beautiful gardens. (Cypress Gardens is closed for renovation. It will reopen in March 2009.) Other popular sites include Bok Sanctuary with its famous carillon, and Fantasy of Flight. Midway between Orlando and Tampa, Winter Haven lives up to its name. It's away from the crowds but convenient to many major attractions.

St. Petersburg - "The Sunshine City" boasts 360 days of sunshine per year. Tour Sunken Gardens, Florida's oldest tourist attraction and a historic landmark. More than 50,000 plants, representing 500 species, thrive here. The Pier is a popular spot. Visit the aquarium and the replica of the HMS Bounty. MGM built the ship for the 1962 movie. It was also used in one of the Pirates of the Caribbean films. Nearby John's Pass Village is a former pirate retreat and fishing village. It is now a tourist stop with quaint shopping & dining. St. Pete also boasts a number of excellent museums. The beaches here are some of the best in the US.

Ft. Myers - Another classic Gulf coast resort is Ft. Myers/Ft. Myers Beach. The area, plus nearby Sanibel and Captiva Islands, is known for some of the best shelling in the world. The slope into Gulf waters is so gentle, the beaches here are among the safest, as well. Thomas Edison and his friend, Henry Ford picked Ft. Myers for their winter homes. Tour their adjacent estates with a single admission. Visit the Cypress Preserve, Manatee World, Babcock Wilderness Adventures and the shell museum. Drive along McGregor Boulevard, lined with 1800 palm trees. The stately trees give Ft. Myers its nickname, "City of Palms".

Key West - This tip of the keys has been America's "Margueritaville" for decades. Even Ponce de Leon started here before sailing north to St. Augustine. Tour Hemingway's 1920's home and Truman's 1949-era Little White House. Visit Pirate Soul and the Key West Shipwreck Treasures museums to learn about the buccaneering heritage of the island. Nature lovers will enjoy the Tropical Forest & Botanical Garden, and the Butterfly & Nature Conservatory. Several US presidents have vacationed on Key West; so should you. It has all the flavor and laid-back charm of a Caribbean island

Miami/South Beach - Like all of Florida, Miami has a rich history to balance her modern side. South Beach is known worldwide for its Art Deco buildings. Take a walking tour or guided tour. The oldest building in the Western Hemisphere was moved, stone by stone, from Spain to Miami by Randolph Hearst in the 1950's. Jungle Island, (formerly Parrot Jungle c. 1936), is an animal show and zoo sure to please everyone. There's also the Seaquarium, Miami Zoo and several museums. Cruise Biscayne Bay past Millionaire Row. Many of the estates date to Miami's heyday in the early 1900's.

Ocala - This central Florida city is synonymous with Silver Springs, a nature park on the Silver River. The artesian springs pump enough fresh water daily to supply New York City. It is one of the largest in the world. Famed glass-bottom boats take visitors through the park, just like they did in the late 1800's. There are other boat tours, plus a jeep ride. The waters are so clear that several movies have been filmed in the waters of Silver Springs. Divers will enjoy Paradise Springs for cave diving. Nature lovers should visit Juniper Prairie Wilderness in Ocala National Forest.

Of course, all of Florida offers exceptional travel opportunities, whether you want sun, sports, history, or entertainment. Just don't forget these gems when you plan your trip to The Sunshine State.

9 Hidden Treasures For Kids on Washington D.C. Tours

By Tia T Jones

Family travel tours are a great vacation, but make sure you include something special for the kids.

When you're taking your kids on Washington D.C. tours, you have to remember that sometimes they're just not into the same things we are. Respectful contemplation at a war memorial may mean a lot to us - but kids also need a little fun. There are plenty of things for kids to see and do on Washington D.C. tours.

Here are a few of the lesser known and most exciting kid-friendly sites and activities.

o Deep in the basement of the Department of Commerce Building, just a block from the Washington Monument, is the National Aquarium. This aquarium has everything a kid could want - alligators, sharks, frogs, toads, seahorses and eels. Cool.

o Older kids can play spy at the International Spy Museum. They'll be deployed on a top secret interactive mission and learn the secrets of disguise when former CIA Chiefs of Disguise Tony and Jonna Mendez demonstrate the art of the 'quick change.'

o For boys, who always like bugs, check out the O. Orkin Insect Zoo at the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History. They'll see about 65 different species of arachnids, centipedes, crustaceans, insects and millipedes and watch a tarantula being fed.

o Discover the Luray Caverns. This amazing wonderland of huge underground structures started forming 4 million centuries ago. And it's still changing.

o Board a pirate ship with the Pirate Adventure Cruise in Annapolis. The kids will be dressed up as pirates, learn to read a map that leads to hidden treasure (which they always find), and go into battle with water cannons.

o Solve a mystery at Gunston Hall's Plantation Sleuth. Tour the home, schoolhouse, kitchen, farmyard and gardens looking for clues - and win an 18th century prize!

o Take a short drive to Virginia's Dinosaurland and walk through the forest dotted with dozens of creatures like King Kong (kids can sit in his hand), huge Mammoths and Triceratops.

o Go on safari at Virginia Safari Park and climb high up the Giraffe Feeding Station so you can feed giraffes on their level. You can also feed elk and bison from your feeding bucket, and drive through Tiger Territory.

o Grab a tool kit at the Building Zone in the National Building Museum and build a 7-foot-tall, soft-block arch in the Great Hall (any budding architects or builders out there?) Or don hard hats and tool belts and drive a 'dozer.

Sound like fun? You bet. And, let's admit it, this kind of travel tour is just as appealing to us as it will be to our kids.

Don't forget to include at least a few of these wonderful highlights in your Washington D.C. tours. You'll not only enjoy them as much as your kids do, you'll probably even feel like a kid again!

Hot Camera Tips For Yellowstone Tours

Monday, October 25, 2010 4:38 AM Posted by Andy Subandono 0 comments

By Tia T Jones

Touring Yellowstone is an exciting adventure - which is why Yellowstone is one of the most popular travel destinations in the world. Recording your trip with photos helps you relive the pleasure, and share it with your friends and family. But taking the same photos over and over again - tiny faceless moms and dads standing in front of Old Faithful - just doesn't cut it. Here are a few hot camera tips that will help you record your Yellowstone tour in a way that will make you proud.

It pretty much goes without saying that it's best to use a digital camera. They're lightweight and compact, and you don't have to worry about film. It's also easy to download the photos onto your computer, group them into albums, share them with friends, print them, and so on.

But to get the best shots, make sure you do the following:

* Use the optical viewfinder. There are usually two ways to compose a shot on a digital camera: looking at the image screen where you will eventually see the finished product, or looking through the optical viewfinder (the little window near the top of the camera.) The viewfinder shows you the actual physical scene in front of your camera, but the image screen shows you something slightly different. With some cameras, you could wind up with the top of dad's head cut off. On a Yellowstone tour, that could mean cutting off the top of Old Faithful's 120-foot geyser shooting into the air. It's just not the same. So, make sure your digital camera has an optical viewfinder, and use it.

* Get a camera with a high pixel count. Pixels are tiny dots that make up a digital image. The more little dots there are, the higher quality the picture. This is especially important if you want to print or enlarge them. They may look great on your camera, but when you make them bigger, the quality suffers. Get a camera with 4 or 5 megapixels, minimum.

* Make sure your camera has high optical zoom: The zoom feature on a camera allows you to take a photo of something far away and have it seem close-up. Some cameras only have 'digital zoom,' and some have optical and digital. The problem with digital zoom is that it really doesn't do much zooming; it just crops the picture. And in the process, it reduces the pixel count. The beautiful images you saw on the image screen of your Yellowstone tour highlights turn into a blurry mess by the time you make them large enough so someone can really appreciate them. When you're taking snapshots of friends, a 2X or 3X magnification is probably enough, for Mt. Rushmore, the Grand Tetons, Mammoth Hot Springs terraces, or other Yellowstone tour sights, you need 5X or more. If you want to take photos of wildlife and don't want to get so close you'll scare them away, you'd be better off with 7X.

Getting home from your Yellowstone tourand excitedly downloading your photos only to find that they don't really capture the beauty you experienced can be disappointing. Get the right camera, and your travel tours will be something you, your kids, your grandkids and your friends can enjoy forever.

Better Than the Beach - Alaska Travel Tours

Friday, October 22, 2010 4:37 AM Posted by Andy Subandono 0 comments

By Johnathan H. Bakers

Unspoiled wilderness makes for a vacation with an unpredictable air to it. In Alaska, and not at the beach, is where a pristine landscape can make for an awe-inspiring outing. The fauna, glaciers and freshwater fishing all appeal to the inner adventurer and is why Alaska has so many visitors every year. In addition to the sights, Alaska's outdoor sports are challenging and varied. For fun in the sun, go to a tropical region. But for non-stop action and risk-taking adventure, get a reasonable adventure travel package.

Maybe the greatest aspect of Alaska outdoor adventure travel is that there are different intensities with which a traveler can explore the state. If you are more interested in a relaxing time and not so rigorous one then there are less physical tours you can go on. Many would probably recommend that you charter a day sight-seeing tour. This can be done by flying or boating and you can get to see native marine life like caribou, whales, and polar bears. It is even possible to go to a gold mining ghost town or lay eyes on awe-inspiring glaciers after a day's worth of backpack hiking.

Alaska outdoor adventure travel even provides for a twist on conventional rock climbing. Ice climbing on glaciers or hiking to snow-capped mountains in Denali National Park are not just seasonal activities in Alaska. Camping, kayaking and rafting are just as prevalent. Snowmobiles or ATVs are great ways to break away from the stationary and see as much of Alaska at one time as possible.

Most travelers opt to take a cruise to Alaska on their first time discovering the near barren and full-of-life locations within the region. A cruise allows for those who only want to look do so, while those who want to get nearer to Alaska's harsh environment can do so as well. One traveler might rather go fishing for salmon while another will take advantage of the guided excursion through an abandoned gold mining town instead.

Do what you want as opposed to going along with the group is the appeal of Alaska adventure travel. Since so many people will probably be traveling at once on a tour, it is important to manage you own schedule as everyone might have distinct tastes as far as what they would like to do. We found this helpful on our visit from La manga. You may want to only do a little photo taking or you may want to participate in some sporting activities. It may even be that you want to do both. But you have to plan you own schedule in order to get the most satisfying results.

If you hail from a normally warm climate, a trip to Alaska could be a shock to your system, especially if you have never been on an adventure travel tour before. Therefore, perhaps it is best to take a cruise that leaves from a port in your town or you nearest dock. The alternative is that you will have to fly to Alaska and do pay for car rental and a place to stay while you visit. With a cruise, all of that is covered by the cost.

Outdoor adventure travel plans to go t Alaska can be organized by a traveler by himself or she/he can enlist the assistance of a travel agent. They will have access to more resources and more inside industry information than an one traveler. Plus, when the unexpected happens a travel agent can more sufficiently manage issues such as a late flight or unrecorded reservations at your place of lodging. Do not go it alone if you believe that better deals and service awaits you through the help of a travel agent.

Finding a Teen Tour for Your Kid

Rata PenuhBy Nicole Martins

For many families the summer represents a time to spend time together as well as apart to experience new adventures. Teen tours offer teenagers the opportunity to experience travel and culture with peers in a safe and fun environment. And trips are typically organized by established touring companies, providing your child with a safe, supervised trip to many locations both abroad and domestic.

Companies differ, of course, and the rustic appeal of an adventurous US teen tour whereby rock climbing, kayaking and high ropes are highlights, may not appeal to all teens. If not, you may want to look into a European or South American tour. Most companies mix a little adventure with travel and the level of travel can include 5 star hotel and resorts or the stay at the college dormitory. How long are teen tours? This again will vary; however, 21 to 45 days is typical.

Compare Teen Tours and Companies

There are a number of ways to begin the search for that perfect travel tour for your teen. The most obvious one is by referral. Ask other parents, teens, family members, friend or associates. If you don't know anyone who has done this kind of summer program, then it's time to search online where there are a number of both directories and touring companies. Directories provide a number of referrals and you search often by state and then view the different companies in your area. Most touring companies have websites at this point, so buy getting leads from the directories you can then go directly to their site.

Using Guided Travel

By Peter S. Mason

Would you prefer Guided travel compared to going solo?

It can be really exciting when it comes to going on holiday as you get to leave your every day stresses behind and swap it for a more relaxed atmosphere. Everyone is different regarding how they want their holiday to be, with some people being a lot more adventurous than others.

It could be that you want to be more spontaneous and you have decided to go solo, but for other people a travel tour could be what they need. It may even be a good idea to combine both solo and guided travel in a holiday so that you can explore on your own for part of it and then be shown some great sights for the rest of the holiday.

You can get a guided tour for most holidays that you go on, especially when you visit some of the major cities around the world. By having a guided tour you can find out about a city or town's history and see some of the best sights that are on offer there.

Individual travel is also a good idea if you want to simply explore the place on your own at your own leisurely pace. By doing this you get to find places that you may not have found with a guided tour and you can then spend as long or as little as you like at each place which you discover.

Making the Decision

When it comes to choosing whether you want to have individual travel or a travel tour it will depend upon the person(s) own individuals needs and tastes. If you cannot make your mind up, combine both of them to see which one works best for you. This may help to influence your decision in the future if you decide to do it again.

Another way to help you to make your mind up includes the fact that you could draw up the pros and cons of both going solo and having a guided tour to see what you prefer. It may be that you enjoyed mixing it up and therefore you may decide that this is what you would like to do again.

The decision that you make will really help to shape your holiday and so it is a good idea to have a basic clue of what you want to do on holiday. Before you do go on holiday, try and do some research in order to find out about the attractions available in the place you are visiting and also enquire about the tour guides that are available as well.

Tour Guide Jobs

By Tyson Hale
Rata Penuh
A Tour Guide job, travel tour guide jobs, or trip leader jobs will probably be one of the most incredible jobs you will have. This is by far my favorite way of getting paid to travel the world. Not for the money but for the life long experiences and the growth that I experience every time I finish a trip.

You can either do teen, adults trips or special needs groups. This can go from high class trips where you stay at hotels the whole time and taking care of the group to camping and cooking in the outdoors and having them take care of themselves. These can range from being facilitators for better group dynamics, to teaching a skill (like climbing) to working with a troubled group and keeping them in-line. You can also do the tourist guide job where you get a some people for a few hours show them around a certain place and then send them on their way.

Before you choose a tour guide job make sure you define which style of working with people you like. For instance, a tour guide on some train in the Alaskan mountain range is going to be a ton different then being a tour guide up on the glacier in those ranges. So first define what type of these tour guide jobs you would want.

As for myself, after going through a lot of these different styles of tour guide I have found that I love getting a group a 13 or so teenagers and taking them to some country and doing some in-depth traveling for a month. It's perfect for me, I get paid a lot to travel around the world, I learn about my self and I progress my abilities to work with youth so when I have kids of my own I'll have an idea about how to raise them instead of them being my parenting test subjects.

Once you define the ideal tour guide job it's time to go get it. There are a few important steps to getting that tour guide job every time but for now go ahead and put some time into the type of tour guide job you would like and then we will cover how to get that tour guide later. Good luck.

Guided Travel for the Solo Vacationer

Sunday, October 10, 2010 4:32 AM Posted by Andy Subandono 0 comments

By Johnathan H. Bakers

If you've traveled with a friend or with your family you know the joy of sharing the holiday experience with others. It's not just the camaraderie but you are sometimes persuaded to see and do things you wouldn't normally do. Traveling solo doesn't mean you need to compromise the joy and excitement of a holiday. Don't let traveling by yourself stop you from taking a dream vacation. Here are some tips and ideas to consider if you'll be vacationing alone.

First decide on where you want to go. While quiet, secluded destinations sound ideal you may find yourself getting bored. Try to find places with lots of sights and things to do. If you would like to meet others then consider cities with lots of nightlife options. If you like the beach, choose destinations that have a combination of city and sand. Likewise, if you want to do some hiking, choose a vacation spot that has a real city nearby so you can enjoy the sights and take in the great outdoors.

Guided travel is another option that can be ideal for individual travel. Not only will you be with a group of other tourists but your itinerary will be planned out for you. You would be surprised at how interesting some sights can be; on your own you may miss them by talking yourself into staying at your hotel. There are travel tours that include your hotel, a tour almost everyday, meals and other services that will keep you busy from the time you arrive until you depart. Another option is taking a guided day tour; these allow you more flexibility and you can revisit the sights on your own. Travel tours can be researched and booked online or through a travel agency.

The California coastal cities are a fantastic option for the solo traveler. San Francisco has an abundance of sights, the wine country is nearby, and the beach city of Santa Cruz is within driving distance. Los Angeles is full of Hollywood sights, amusement parks and world renowned beaches. If you prefer the East Coast then consider New York or Washington D.C.; there are plenty of museums, shows and activities to keep the individual traveler occupied.

In any case, I suggest the lone traveler make travel arrangements in advance. The frustration with hassles is doubled when you're traveling by yourself. Also, prepare yourself for some quiet time. Bring some good books and magazines to read. Consider bringing a laptop so you can keep in touch with friends and research activities in your vacation city. Keeping a blog is another way to keep occupied; sharing your travel experiences on a blog is like chatting with a travel buddy about your trip.

Traveling solo doesn't have to be boring or lonely. On the contrary, it can be quite enjoyable and exciting. Do some research, consider tours and make your travel arrangements in advance.

Adventure Travel - an Exciting Thrill?

By Andy McDowell

Do you want to add a little adventure to your
life? Do you want to be engaged in something you
have never done before? The unique information
here will help you to considering a vacation that
will bring memories and expierences that will
last a lifetime.

Believe it, adventure travel is for every kind of
people. Youngsters who want to get excited by
travelling through Alaska with a dog sled or
other risky activities and elder couple who
define a hot air balloon ride as adventurous.

Thus, if you engage in adventure travel, you will
meet individuals from all walks of life--and
ironically, this is a form of adventure in and of
itself.

When considering adventure travel versus regular
travel you will find that adventure travel has
much more to offer than regular travel. During
your adventure travel there is always a tour
operator with much experience and knowledge and
know how to effectively handle the situations
that you are engaging in. Conversely, adventure
travel is frequently jam packed with activities
for you to engage in; especially activities that
match the theme of whatever adventure tour you
have selected. Thus, in terms of guaranteed
activity--guarantee activities during regular
travel is limited to none while adventure travel
aims to fulfill its name: a trip loaded to the
brim with adventure!

First, before you begin making adventure travel
plans, you must consider how much physical
activity you would like to engage in. For
instance, do you want to simply travel the world
and see exotic places which entails a relatively
low physical impact or do you want to hike or
rock climb? An equally important aspect to
learning how to plan for adventure travel is
learning how to comparatively shop around for
great prices on adventure tour plans.Remember
that price does not necessarily equate to quality
and just because you get a discount on an
adventure travel tour doesn't mean that you will
appreciate the tour operator!

In short, there is a form of adventure travel for
everyone--even you! All you have to do is
determine what the words unique and adventure
means to you. Once you have defined what
adventure means to you, you can plan an adventure
trip that you will remember for the rest of your
life! In fact, you will even have stories to tell
your friends and family!

3 Key Elements of Slow Travel - The New Way to Tour Italy

By Cristina Amigoni

Slow travel is the new way to travel the world. It gives you the opportunity to become part of the local life, connect to a place, its people and its culture.

Movie sensations like Under the Tuscan Sun and books like Eat, Pray, Love have sparked the new desire to experience the culture of a place and really get the sense of what life is about, whether you are visiting the Tuscan country side, or the small village on Spanish coast.

There are three key elements that set apart Slow Travel Tours from regular Tours:

Small groups: It is essential on these tours to limit the number of guests. Having only 10-12 guests really gives the tour guides and operator the chance to provide the much needed personal attention. Catering to larger groups only means herding people around for hours without really ensuring that each person is having the experience of a lifetime.

Local experience: Tours must focus on the local life. The ideal vacation now includes shopping at the village markets and learning how to cook the local dishes. Tours should be focused on quality not quantity, keeping the traveling from place to place to a minimum and really taking in the local life.

Lodging in one location:Gone are the hectic holiday tours where you run from one must see to another, only to arrive home feeling like you need a holiday. Slow Travel tours are about slowing down and joining in local happenings. Slow travelers stay in one place for at least a week. The room in the family-run B&B becomes your new home away from home.

Try Slow Travel, next time you plan to Tour Italy, and bring a little bit of culture and local life back with you, to complement your digital pictures.

Guided Travel Vis-V-Vis Going Solo

By Ken C. Morris

What according to you is the best way to travel, would it be by guided travel or individual travel? We recently took a trip to Washington. Taking a bus tour that would take us around the capital showing us the highlights, this turned out to be a good decision. We were allowed to travel by foot the next day to see those sights we wanted to from up close. Giving us an opportunity to plan our three days in the city and select what we wanted to see.

The San Francisco Bay Area which happens to be a favorite holiday spot for me and my family holds many pleasant and cherished memories of our holidays in those places. There are few places, which are so much haunted by tourists that you could visit them on your own. As a result you can decide on your own time and pace to visit. Good examples of the same are Fisherman's Wharf and Pier39. By walking a couple of blocks you can see the Aquarium of the Bay, or cruise around San Francisco Bay, take some time at the Riptide Arcade on Pier 39 and go around the famous Ripley's Believe It or Not Museum.

Those traveling without a guide might like to buy a San Francisco City Pass. Buying this would give you tickets to five hot spots, apart from free rides on the Cable Cars and an optional ticket which could be used at select optional places like the Steinhart Aquarium or Legion of Honor & Academy of Science.

There are some attractions again where you would enjoy more with a tour guide. While on Alcatraz Island, you could go solo, but having a lively tour guide or listening to earphones could make you aware of the interesting points when you go through them.

The Walking Tours of Chinatown are a must see. This adds to the behind the scenes colorful picture of the place. This tour takes you through the history and traditions of the local people and familiarizes you with the culture you would never understand on your own.

San Francisco has almost 30 fun and free walking tours of the city. For information on these free tours, visit http://www.sfcityguides.org.

It is the same for Napa valley tours. You could drive up to the place yourself while looking around, but a guided tour to some of the vineyards and wine tasting rooms would make it more interesting.

A 17-mile drive to the coast is also a favorite driving tour. The winding roads give you fantastic views of beautiful mansions and the country side. You would be traveling through Carmel and Pebble Beach Golf Club.

Whether you chose to visit alone or take a guided tour, should depend on your place of visit and what you want to see. Mixing a bit of both could make your travel tour worthwhile.

Get Access to Any of the Tour Buses Worldwide

By Luis JJ Teixeira

One of the best ways to travel anywhere in the world afford-ably, is by bus. This also gives you access to a lot of the stuff that you would not be able to experience if you traveled by yourself. Tour buses really do make the world of difference, not only in the sightseeing experience, but you also get to meet like-minded individuals on the trip.

The greatest benefit of making use of the service is that you will be given access to any travel destination you can think of, and more. It does not matter if you want to travel in the US, Europe, Asia or Australia, there are different packages available for you to make use of, and one that will surely match your budget.

Why would you make use of this service that allows you to book any travel tour bus worldwide? Firstly, you will have access to the largest availability of tours and sightseeing packages. You will be able to access them online and determine beforehand exactly where you're planning to spend your vacation. Plus, you'll be able to ask any question you want to know about your travel package on the tour bus and a dedicated customer service team will get back to you quickly.

Currently, it makes a lot of sense to travel on a tour bus from a financial perspective. Simply put, it is far cheaper to make use of a tour bus. If you had to calculate what it would cost you to travel in a rental car plus all the fuel costs, toll fees and parking, you would not think twice about taking a tour bus vacation. If you would like to work out how much it would cost you to travel by car or rental car I recommend you go to the following website (http://www.travelmath.com/fuel-cost)

Another reason to make use of a tour bus is the possibility that you are thinking "green" and you're thinking for a head of anyone else. You'd like to preserve the earth and all of its natural resources while touring, that is why it makes perfect sense for you to travel and share a tour bus with 40 to 60 people. You will not only travel cheaper, but you will also cut down on pollution and energy wastage.

Now that you know the main reasons why you should be making use of a tour bus to travel to your next travel destination or vacation, you're probably going to ask me then, how safe is it to book your bus ticket with this online service? I have done a lot of research and tested a lot of services out there. All of them had their positives and negatives, but what made this online booking service unique is the fact that it has a wide variety of tour bus packages. To book, all you have to do is follow a simple 3 step process to book your bus ticket.

This is definitely the way that you should be traveling, all the time because it just makes perfect sense. Not only will you save yourself some money, but you'll also be saving our planet at the same time.

Australia: The Sight-Seeing Travel Tour

By Mark Minding

If you haven’t been to Australia or are planning to visit it a second time, then you must have all the information about the places to visit so that you can fully experience the wonderful land that is Australia.

Australia is the sixth-largest country in the world and is divided into 6 states and several territories. The 6 states are New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia, Tasmania, Victoria and Western Australia. The two major territories are the Northern Territory (NT) and the Australian Capital Territory (ACT).

The largest part of Australia is desert or semi-arid, but the south-east and south-west corners have temperate climate and moderately fertile soil. The northern part has tropical climate, which is part tropical rainforest, part grassland and part desert.

When you go to Australia, you just cannot miss seeing The Great Barrier Reef. It is the world’s largest coral reef and extends for over 1,200 kms! It lies a short distance from the north-east coast.

Another spectacular place to visit is Uluru. It is the second largest monolith in the world and is located in central Australia. You can also visit the Great Artesian Basin, which is the world’s largest and deepest fresh water basin. Along with its beauty, it also serves as an important source of water in the parched outback.

You sure can’t miss going to Sydney if you visit Australia. Sydney is located in a coastal basin situated between the Pacific Ocean to the east and the Blue Mountains to the west. You can enjoy all the activities associated with beaches because there are more than 70 beaches in Sydney! If you have limited time, then you can only go to the famous Bondi Beach of Australia.

Sydney has more amazing landmarks for you like Sydney Harbour Bridge and Sydney Opera House. Both are located in Sydney Harbour. If you are interested in rowing, boating, recreational fishing, racing small yachts and Dragon Boat racing, then you can get all that in Sydney Harbour.

The city also boasts of musical, theatrical and artistic activities which come under one roof in the Sydney Festival which happens every January. More information can be found here - [http://www.australias.co.uk/sydneyaustralia/]

Melbourne is another major city of Australia which is situated in the south-east corner of the mainland Australia. It has a large and vibrant cultural life along with a chain of pubs, bars and nightclubs. Fashionable nightclubs, ubiquitous faux-Irish pubs, serious jazz venues on Bennetts Lane, massive pickup joints like The Metro on Bourke Street are all part of the city’s magic.

If shopping is what tempts you the most, then there are many reasonably priced shopping places where you can go and shop till you drop. Melbourne has innumerable clothing shops for every budget and various outlet stores in Bridge Road, Richmond for bargain hunters too!

Perth is a city known for the pristine quality of its beaches. Unbroken stretches of golden sands run through the entire length of the city’s coastal suburbs. If you are a nature lover, then you got to see this place.

Adelaide or the ‘City of Churches’, as it is often referred as, is a coastal city situated on the Fleurieu Peninsula. The name City of Churches is a reflection of Adelaide’s past rather than its present. The city has many wine growing districts such as the Baroosa valley.

Food lovers can taste traditional Australian cuisine which consists of grilled chops, Sunday roasts etc. Some English trends are still evident in domestic cuisine like hot roast turkey, chicken or ham with all the trimmings followed by Christmas pudding. Australia’s two most traditional takeaway dishes are the meat pie and sausage roll.

Experience Portuguese Influence With Margao Travel Tour

By Manish Caper

A typical Goan town is one that showcases the Portuguese influence all around. What else can beat a Margao city guide when it comes to Goa India tourism?! Located 33 km from Panaji, in the heart of the Salcett taluka in the southern part of Goa, the city of Margao is popular as an important commercial center.

Tourist Attractions
As far as tourist attractions are concerned, Margao offers very limited choices. Apart from relaxing beaches, the place has a few highly revered & artistic temples and churches. A few of them are listed as:

* Dotted with colonial style villas and ramshackle fishing huts, Colva is the oldest and the longest of all the beaches in south Goa. Another popular beach is the Benaulim, which lies at a distance of 7 km from Margao. Tourists in heavy numbers can be seen here spending quality time with family/friends or enjoying some of the best water sports.
* The Church of the Holy Spirit or the Largo de Igreja is a beautiful example of Portuguese architecture. This 1675 structure still retains its importance.
* The House of Seven Gables or Sat Burzam Ghor is a beautiful mansion that lies at a walking distance from the Church of the Holy Spirit. The mansion was commissioned in 1790.
* Those who wish to spend romantic evening with their partners, can visit the beautiful Jorge Barreto Park. This municipal garden is surrounded by many restaurants and office buildings.
* Monte Church and the Chandreshwar Bhuthnath Temple are a few other attractions of your Margao trip that are valuable, religiously as well as architecturally.

Earlier, the place was a home to the mathas of the Vaishnava sect. As the number of mathas grew gradually, the place was named 'Matha - gram'. Later the Portuguese renamed it as Margao or Madgao when they started facing problems in pronouncing the name.

Malampuzha Travel Tours Guide

By Archna Gupta

Malampuzha is in the state of Kerala in the Palakkad district. It is located on the foothills of the Western Ghats and has a tremendous amount of dense, green foliage to enjoy. In fact, everywhere that you look, beautiful green foliage is there. This foliage creates a serene and almost surreal experience for all that go there.

One of the biggest draws to this particular city is an irrigation dam that was built in 1955. This irrigation dam allows this city to take advantage of its beautiful setting. It helps to irrigate the landscape to make it remain green at all times. This reservoir also adds to the water activities that are possible in the area. Tourists are drawn to this area for its natural beauty and the relaxing atmosphere that exists there because of the impressive, green landscape.

If you are drawn to breathtaking views, this gem of a city has plenty such sights to offer thanks to the greenery as well as the Ghats themselves. If you want to experience some exotic animals, this area can provide you with that possibility. Water activities and relaxing gardens are also possible in the area.

Malampuzha is brimming with both natural and man-made gardens and reservoirs for everyone to enjoy.

Malampuzha Dam

Work on the Malampuzha Dam was begun in 1949. Six years later it was completed and dedicated in 1955. The dam's capacity is 115.06 meters. The dam created the largest irrigation system in Kerala with a network of canals. This reservoir is in a majestic setting. It is located in the Western Ghats with the Ghats towering over the reservoir. The landscape by the dam is green and incredibly beautiful. The Malampuzha Garden is located right by the dam. The reservoir created by the dam is used as a boating destination by many people including tourists.

Udan Khatola

The Udan Khatola is one of the most loved attraction at Malampuzha Gardens. It is the only Passenger Ropeway in South India and is a unique and impressive way to survey the scenery below. This ropeway allows you to travel above the garden, at a height of 60 feet. This height allows you to have a fantastic look at the green garden below, but also of the impressive Western Ghats. The ride is very safe and takes twenty minutes. The ride has two-seater chairs which are 64 in number. These have transparent hoods that provide both clear view of Malampuzha Gardens and safety as well. The cost for a ride ranges from Rs. 30 to Rs. 150, depending on your situation.

Yakshi Statue

The Yakshi Statue is yet another interesting feature in the Malampuzha area. It sits directly in the Malampuzha Gardens and is set off beautifully by the greenery that surrounds it. This statue is an enormous rock sculpture of Yakshi created by the renowned sculptor Kanai Kanhiraman. Yakshi is traditionally thought of as an enchantress, and this persona adds to the intrigue of this magnificent piece of art. To make this statue even more impressive, the entire huge piece was carved out of one single piece of granite. It definitely takes a master artist to manage creating such magnificence with only one huge piece of rock.

Adventure Travel Tours: A Day on the Trail

Sunday, August 29, 2010 4:04 AM Posted by Andy Subandono 0 comments

By Kevin Riley

An adventure travel vacation is a great way to explore your world. Join a group of fun people who share your interests as we go on a day hike in the Alps. Enjoy a little taste of Switzerland.

Up, Up, and Away

After consuming a hearty breakfast, we depart for the trailhead. It's close to our conveniently located inn, so we take a leisurely stroll - greeting friendly locals and shopkeepers along the way.

We board a bright red cable car that whisks us soaring above the valley to a far away peak. One of your companions excitedly nudges you, "Look, marmots!". We gaze at a trio of cuddly creatures staring back at us from the rockface - so close we feel we could reach out and touch them.

We disembark at a solid rock and timber mountain station - now peaceful, this station hosts a clattering mass of skiers during the winter season.

Clean Mountain Air and Emerald Lakes

Breathing in the fresh mountain air, we set out on our trail. Carpets of wildflowers surround us. Gentle cows graze the alpine grasses - serenading us with a cheerful tinkle of bells. Hiking here is so refreshing.

A meandering path leads us through hillocks of glacial moraine, now cloaked in a splendid green, to the edge of a startlingly beautiful emerald lake. The nearby mountains reflect on its surface.

We make a brief stop to admire this natural jewel. Some of our group rambles around the tiny lake - others lay back and enjoy the serenity.

Hiking Amongst Towering Peaks

Our trail continues along a high mountain valley bordered by towering snow-capped peaks. Beautiful Alpenroses form a lovely rolling heath. We tramp across a small snowfield - its coolness underfoot contrasts with the glorious warmth of the alpine sun.

We spy a cairn ahead with the familiar red-and-white trail marking painted on one of its rocks. Rounding a corner we spot our lunchtime destination in the distance - a solid Berghaus growing out of the surrounding rocks.

Lunching on the Sonnenterrasse

As we settle ourselves on a rustic, sun-drenched Sonnenterrasse, a tantalizing smell of frying onions and sausages greets us. Lunch is hearty mountain fare - plates heaped with Rosti mit Spiegeleier und Speck (a wonderfully golden, crispy fried potato pancake with egg and bacon) - served by a flaxen-haired girl in a traditional, powdery-blue farmer's smock.

We wash down our delicious lunch with bottles of local beer and gaze out across a massive glacier winding its way down between two peaks and glistening in the sunlight.

Stunning Views

Well sated, we regain our trail and soon find ourselves breaking out onto a sloping hillside - affording us stunning views of the valley far below. We see a tiny hamlet across the valley, its sun-burned houses and barns surround a central church spire. A massive mountain rears up behind this peaceful scene.

Slowly dropping down a gentle path, we enter a straggle of dwarf pine. We're greeted by a pungent fragrance that reminds us of the cleanliness of this wonderful habitat. The afternoon sun is gaining strength and it's a perfect time for us to enter the cool loaminess of the lower forest. We follow the edge of a cascading glacier-fed creek - its frostiness refreshes the air around us.

Warm Sun and the Smell of Hay

We clatter across an ancient wooden bridge - its surface well worn by generations of cows being driven to Alpine meadows. In the lower pastures, local farmers are harvesting the hay with large wooden rakes. A comforting, sun-rich smell of dried grasses greets us.

Off to the Konditorei

The relaxing smell of hay and the warmth of the sun has put us into a peaceful, lazy mood. We beeline to the nearest Konditorei to debate our biggest decision of the day - is it to be the daintily glazed apricot torte, the decadent chocolate mousse with lashings of whipped cream, or the traditional (and oh so tasty) Engadiner Nusstorte.

We relax in a cozy nook and relieve today's experiences.

Relaxing Back at the Inn

We amble back to our welcoming inn - a great time for relaxed exploration of the local shops. Back at the inn, some members catch up on reading in the inn's glorious wood-paneled library - others send postcards or nap in the warm afternoon sun.

Later, we'll watch as the sun paints the mountains with golden color. An adventure travel vacation in Switzerland is a fantastic experience.

Tomorrow, we set off on another lovely adventure.

Have a Fabulous Budget Travel Tour to Kansas City Tourism

By Bimal Bhatt

Kansas City Tourism

On the tour to explore and experience the wondrous beauties and splendid structures gifted by nature I was heading towards the Western part of United States. My beliefs and expectations were teasing me as even by visiting many of the tourism spots, very fewer has touched my soul! But, I think ultimately I came across the dream city which was popping up in my mind and thoughts!! The city of Kansas!! Amazing can be the lowest word I can use for the thrill and feel I earned by visiting this awesome place.

City Of Fountains!!

First of all it broke all the pride and pleasure I experienced in Rome last year as this city is having massive numbers of fountains which I didn't liked but I loved the most!! It's the city of fountains and I wished could stay here longer to see the wonderful water coming down in different shapes and styled teaching me the beauties of ups and downs of lives!! Excellent view it was!!

City Of Music!!

This deadly destination is also the city of Music!! Numerous Jazz clubs inspiring me to play the melodious and rhythmic tone of life and had a fabulous session of listening quietly to the most favourite songs and music of Charlie Parker and Count Basie!!

City Of Children-Friendly Events!!

The deadliest thing I found in this visit that I was never worried about the kids even when they were roaming alone. I think that happened for the first time in the entire tour yet as I found all the places quite innocent and child-friendly. Keeping these guys involved, the city allowed me to enjoy the flavour of the city freely!!

City Of Knowledge!!

The hunger of knowledge which was created and fulfilled by the Science City was quite educating. It took nearly 4 hours to get glimpse of this mesmerising museum as there is ample of stuffs inviting to enhance the general knowledge and information about the scientific approach to the world and worldly matters!! Only 20 minutes from the Science city we saw the impressive Zoo houses having plenty of varieties of creatures from various countries and continents.

City Of Enjoyment!!

I really believe that the city is going to be the most spontaneous spot for tourism in very short period as it is having quite huge potential for the same. There is everything in the city for everyone, irrespective of ages!! It's truly the city of enjoyment, the city of Kansas!! This Kansas City Tourism could be narrated as the most memorable experience of life.

City Of Wichita Kansas

After meting the city of Kansas, how can we forget the neighbouring city of Wichita!! Wichita Kansas is the city of Kansas located at Country seat of Sedgwick city, Kansas. The Arkansas River is offering great view of the city which is twinkling trade center of the state!!

The city has a proud history of having the cultural, entertainment, night club, shopping and even the aircraft Excellencies which are rarely seen in any of the city of Western United State tour of mine!! My be I found the city quite mass and full of people all around could be the reason I ended up with not as wonderful memories as Kansas but latterly I came to know that the city is having the highest population in the surrounded areas and 51st in the entire states!!

See More on a Guided Travel Vacation

Travel guides are available in many cities, both large and small. If you want to learn more about certain monuments or districts, joining a tour group is one option. Tour prices vary depending on city, length, and the number of people in your party. Popular tours in Washington DC and San Francisco and other parts of California will take you to famous areas, bridges, monuments, and other historical landmarks and give you a background on each of them.
